Losing at home to Wigan (Wigan!!) after being 2 up & getting relegated was pretty bad, before BFS put "The West Ham Way" to bed & showed us how to defend
Sullivan gave us all false hope & expectation which has left everyone totally deflated after this shit season & boring football
We need a complete overhaul in the summer though

I can understand why someone would think this is a very low point in our history. We've had shitter teams, shitter football, in a lower league, but standing on a terrace having a laugh was a massive compensation for that.

No.
This season has been an incredibly frustrating one. However, for me a 'period' encompasses more than one season. And last season was utterly brilliant, and definitely one of my favourites and most enjoyable. This season was always going to be a struggle to match up to it.

I don't think so. Been many times just as bad, if not worse.
What you have today is a plethora of drama-queens (yes, I'm looking at YOU) who see something on a screen and automatically assume that it must be the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth because they grew up in a period when (they were convinced) television/the camera never lies.
OK, I know it's not "television", but it's a screen, and evolution is far to slow to allow people to make the re-assignment in a generation or less.
So loads more shit on "screens" today than there was "back in the day" must (MUST) equate to now being worse than then.
